About Edwin Valero

Edwin Valero

So just who is Edwin Valero?  Perhaps you may have heard of him as the round 1 knockout artist, or maybe the “slugger” who hasn’t fought enough  major league names. But whatever you like to call him, no matter what the boxing analysts, skepticts, haters or the critics say: Valero still making a name for himself by having a professional undefeated boxing record with 25 consecutive knockouts, 19 of which all occurred in the first round. Clearly with that perfect undefeated boxing record, 100% knockout ratio and 80% of which all in round 1, you can’t blame the fame of the Venezuelan Teiken style southpaw fighter from the super featherweight and lightweight division that is Edwin Valero.
Edwin Valero became the WBA super featherweight champion of the world on August 5, 2006. After making four successfull world title defenses,Valero vacated the WBA title which has since been aquired by Jorge Linares  and made the move to the lightweight division to challenge Antonio Pitalua for the WBC belt vacated by Manny Pacquiao. After destroying Pitalua inside two rounds on April 4, 2009: Edwin Valero is the new WBC lightweight champion!…. There have also been rumors circulating all over the internet that one of the biggest fights in boxing history might just happen: Edwin Valero vs. Manny Pacquiao, However; there have been many hindrances for this match. For one, Edwin Valero has yet to be cleared to fight in most states of the USA, particularly in Nevada due to health conditions he gained from a severe motorcycle accident. We’ve attained verification that he has been cleared to fight in Texas so far, so that’s good news for Edwin Valero fans.
Another hindrance to consider is that Valero’s camp might think it might be too early for him to fight with arguably one of the top fighters- Manny Pacquiao, and that Valero may still need more exposure to gain momentum and popularity in the boxing community. But we say that’s the whole point. He is a fast rising star hungry to knock the heck out of his next victims. The only way to debunk such stereotype (that he hasn’t fought real fighters yet) is to begin fighting with the big names like Pacman.
But on a safety note, we at edwinvalero.net think that a match with Valero and Pacquiao this soon will be a make or break fight and/or a career threatening match for the two of them and thus a grand showdown might be purposly delayed as long as possible due to a highly avoided topic of conflict of intrest as both fighters are currently under the same contract holding promotional banner Top Rank inc. Realizing this one can surmize that it could be in the best economic interest to hype-up but delay the eventual unavoidable showdown. And then if he manages to knock Manny Pacquiao out, a difficult task but not unacheivable as Manny Pacquiao has been knocked out already two times! As long as he defeats the destroyer then the match and his name Edwin Valero will for sure be written in a gold plated tablet in the boxing history books……

Valero is the most underrated boxer at this time. He is not getting fair opportunities for big fights. That is because they are afraid of him and the threat he carries. There should not be an Oscar – Pacman fight. Pac too small. Valero and Manny is what we need to see.

Scott Stevens says:

haven’t seen valero fight though, but fightin’ manny at this time where he is at his peak, valero we’ll go straight home in less than 8.. it’d be the craziest dream a man like him would ever do..

nicofranz says:
December 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm

VALERO’s gonna get another head injury if he fights pacquiao.. it’s either he gets a new skull crack or have his old injury damaged again.. he’d die in manny’s ring it’s hell..

macmac says:
December 7th, 2008 at 10:28 pm

Oh really mr nicofranz?!?!!? pacman’s gonna suck edwin’s gloves!!!…. pacman will meet his ghost in the ring and he’d go back to his beloved flipinas crying in bob arum’s stouty chests!!.. roach will abandon this teary pacman boy and take on the rising superstar in edwin!!… you’ll see wat am talkin’ bout when they square off either in texas, mid east or flipinas!!!!!!!!!!

post scriptum: if golden boy didn’t work out on pacman because of his drowsy jabs like wat we saw?!?!?!?!? hatton would do d same on pac so better not face ricky to preserve pac and his career

Christian says:
December 15th, 2008 at 8:30 am

i admit, valero has an impressive fight record…his power is his strength…im sure he will have a bright future…but fighting againts manny pacquiao, he will be destroyed…all of him is just power…with manny’s velocity and power, he will suffer…he never faced someone in the caliber of manny pacquiao…but let’s just see…im sure it will be an exciting match…but im sure he will go down more than dela hoya do…

Glad says:
December 16th, 2008 at 4:53 pm

i think manny pacquiao is the best opponent for him coz they both have punching power, but Valero haven’t fought a caliber like Pacman, he might go the distance if the fight happens, he must train hard and punch with accuracy and effectiveness and be slick and alert. Pacman is strong but has a suspect chin, Valero can take the crack!

RAINJIIT KUMAR says:
December 17th, 2008 at 6:04 pm

I saw Edwin’s punches. They are too dangerous. But fighting Manny at this time, I am sure, will make his family cry. Manny’s speed is too much for Valero and the latter’s freak head might cause his unwelcome and untimely death. I am sure he will land either in the hospital or cemetery… Edwin, I do not want you to fight Manny. I do not want to see you suffer. You better fight Marquez instead.. I know you feasted in Manny’s bash.

Jesus Inciarte says:
December 18th, 2008 at 12:47 am

Ray Franklin says:

it didnt make any sense, i know valero has a tremendous fighting power, but uhum excuse me, he will never never be victorious againts pacquiao at this peak of moment. pacquiao is too way far comparing with statistical with edwin. sorry edwin, you can’ beat pacman and no doubt about it. i like you man, but if pacquiao retired, i will choose you as my next boxing idol! more power to you

sickendahead says:
January 2nd, 2009 at 2:52 pm

Edwin Valero’s win-lose standing is good but for the record he fought with nobodies.. he’s just like juanma, murdered every opponent in the ring at the very first round but yet it’s not that impressive.

book him a fight with top class boxers let’s see where’s that record going to land.

Christian says:
January 5th, 2009 at 9:41 am

hello mr. ray franklin!its good that edwin valero is training hard now…but if you let him fight pacman, i guess your heavy training will fish an big frustration…im sure he will go down more than dela hoya do…i cant wait for that day…good day…

Yeng says:
January 8th, 2009 at 6:17 am

Edwin is a good boxer but i dont think he is not ready to fight Manny Pacqiao yet. I’d like to see him fight with Hatton though, they seem to be a similar fighter who likes to brawl and throw a home run knockdown. Just work on your defense and you’ll do fine! Viva Valero!

Suerte y mucho coraje e inteligencia

ROBERT says:

Valero havent yet fight top caliber boxers in USA like BARERA,MARQUEZ,MORALES,DELA HOYA.He should prove first he can defeat one of this Boxers in the ring before fighting PACQUIAO. Manny had passed all this champions. Compared to speed & power,Manny proved he has this tools in the ring, I watched Valero videos,he still too slow for Manny,Manny can maintain his energy up to 12 rounds and he becomes more stronger and stronger on the last round, well Valero should prove this also in the ring. The key to win the fight in the ring is the combination of SPEED & POWER and Manny proves this already.

Elmo says:
January 13th, 2009 at 8:06 pm

Valero needs to prove his worth by beating the top caliber fighters in the lightweight division first before he fight Pacquiao. If he could knock out JM Marquez, Nate Campbell, Juan Diaz, Michael Katsidis, or David Diaz in less than 5 rounds, then I would be convinced that he can beat Pacquiao with his power punches. He got to prove himself first by fighting the boxers who have the potentials to beat Pacquaio!!!

and i speak for all venezuelans finally there good venezuelan boxer, maybe the best venezuelan boxer lets hope he finally clears here in the states so we can see him fight here

Valero needs to start fighting more often he has not fought
in 7 months, long lay offs like that tend to get boxers rusty. If he wants to shine his promoter needs to start challenging american fighters to fight valero in japan.that is if american fighters aint scared.

Valero v. Pacquioa would be a real fight because Pac’s career is shinning bright-he legitamately can be classified as boxings STAR and Valero can and should be genuinely classified as boxings’ most feroious-yes stars- Edwin’s knockout’s have come by supreme boxing agility and ferious fuerza/power, so think about let this fight happen before the sicko bosses of the boxing underworld spoil it! Thanks for listening. Gabe (ex-Pro)

Oh! and if any one disagrees we can meet at your local gym and maybe get a workout. (The actual “local gym” must have some sort of ring)

Manny would totally embarrass Valero, no question about it. The only person that Pacman should worry about is J.M. Marquez in a third fight. Perhaps Valero could be a tune up fight for him before that real fight though. I’m sure Manny could toy with him enough to make it last a little while, just like he did his last two fights in order to get in some sufficient work before turning out the lights. No chance Edwin!

March 18th, 2009 at 11:34 pm

im looking forward of pacquiao-valero fight. But I think, he must prove himself first. a win over diaz, casamayor, or maybe marquez may have a shot to battle pacquiao. Valero must gain respect first. For now, he’s still nothing!

If he fights The Pacman, he might not last a long fight on which manny is good, he will surely get a taste of his owm medicine in an OVERSODE manner… better fight better fighter before dreaming for the Stars… train harder coz luck is not always there…

sure valero is a great puncher, no doubt.manny has the same level of power punches too..thus the power of their punches cancel out..the determining factor for a pacquiao-valero fight would be experience..manny’s fights doubles that of valero..thru out these fights manny has refined and sharpened his skills such as head movement, footwork, and most importantly his accuracy..sure both fighters punch could bring down great wall(of china),but the fighter that has the most tools for doing that is the pac-man

I went to see Valero knock out Pitaloua and although it was quick work for Valero I was not dissapointed that it ended so quickly because that it the beauty of Valero’s skill. Later when I say the knock out punch on video and in more detail I gave more credit to Edwin for setting the punch up so beautifully! Valero, I’m really looking foward to see you get to fight the monstro de los philipines and show the world why you are the most talked about boxer in the debate and question of Manny Pacquiao. I believe that Pac Man has two more fights before he retires according to what I read Freddie Roach say, I truly hope he does not retire without giving Edwin the chance to show the world his talento!!!!!!!!!! Valero, I met you in Austin at the airport and want to thatnk you for answering all my questions and being to gracious, the title belt you had truly looks like you were born for it!!!!

carl campos says:
May 3rd, 2009 at 7:13 am

I think Valero is a GREAT fighter yet still inexperienced…

[Well, unless he started boxing while he was yet a FETUS!!! Then I should be wrong...]

24 KO’s, 19 on 1st round doesn’t make him perfect. He hasn’t lost yet. And that is his disadvantage.

He should earn fights first. I think he’s an even greater fighter than Pacman to have earned this unbelievable record at a very early stage.

There is NO room for him but to become better and better. I don’t really think anyone’s going to get worse and worse. Is there? 0_o?

Still, I suppose this is juz too early for him to fight the Pacman.

Pacman on the other hand have earned the skills to become the pound 4 pound boxer. And Filipino’s are so proud of him. ^_^

But I really hope Pacman gives him chance to prove Valero’s worth as a boxer, though…coz pacman’s getting too rich now… And he’s hand might get too soft to box…

He might not need to think about this stuffs`, too, with all the money?

^_^

I’m a Filipino..I thot you should know. XD

i think its a possibility, that a Valero Pacman would happen. but i guess Valero has a long way to go, given the fact that hes still young, never fought real and powerfull boxers, it would be a disaster for him. a 1st round knockout artist doesnt mean his good, and will not work on bigger opponents, if he will go up in weights his strength will be much different, and it would be difficult for him to catch the speed of pacman. Pacman are way too dangerous for him, he must first beat david diaz or juan manuel marquez if he ought to even scratch manny pacquiao. and besides valero’s opponents are mostly driver’s and vendor’s in his country. LOL!

marlon says:
May 7th, 2009 at 6:18 pm

he cannot win over manny. he should first introduce himself by fighting other boxing champs like cotto, morales, and marquez. prove yourelf frst valero.. if you want to fight the champ, try to defeat 1st some of the biggest fighters outthere.

i know he can hurt pacquiao but the question is can he hit pacquiao??
valero is very slow for manny pacquiao…
and the skills???
his like hatton…
got a power and a brawler…
every body knows what happened to hatton when he calls out pacquiao??
the best thing possible valero would be fighting is amir khan…
amir khan trainer is freddie roach…

VALERO’S CHANCE WITH PACQUIAO IS LIKE CATCHING A FLY WITH A CHOPSTICK. REST THE ISSUES WITH VALERO VS. PACMAN. ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. THERE IS NO MONEY TO BE MADE…ITS NOT PROFITABLE. i dont care how fast or how strong the pacman is. what is important is that he should also fight a boxer that does not just stands up in his front. like marquez, mayweather and valero. Pacman wins just because all his opponents that he knocked are like statue. his win against marquez is very controversial and must have a trilogy. But pacman seems to be going away from marquez. what do you think?

Bee says:
May 27th, 2009 at 12:22 am

Valero needs to climb the ladder like everybody did. Pac went from lewdaba, to barrera, to morales, to diaz to marquez to hatton etc… Valero has very little on his resume to EARN a fight with pac. Right now pac might face COTTO, FLOYD MAYWEATHER, or MARQUEZ trilogy,. shane mosley and jc chavez jr. even want a peace of him,.. Valero is FFFFAAAAARRR from the list,. I suggest he start with Juan Diaz who had his first loss to JMM,. Being undefeated means nothing if you fight nobodys.. makes sense right?

prove yourself first…
Yes!! I believed you got the power but still your still an amateur fighter.
and the thing is you can’t use your power against pac. (lack of footworks, lack of speed, lack of fighting skills)
by the way there’s nothing wrong in dreaming…hehehehehe…

sorry guys, this is for all the people saying that Valero never faced nobody, he defeated Vicente Mosquera (former wba champ) and he was a great boxer, not an easy one, and before i forget, Valero has been trying to figth big names, but it seems like NOBODY WANTS TO FIGHT HIM, THEY ARE SCARE OF HIM, HE IS A KILLER, THE REAL DEAL, he´s been tryinbg to fight pacman for years now, and he´s been running away from him (manny), Valero is suppost to defend his belt before July, and he can´t find a opponent, who´s he suppost to fight next if everybody seems to be scare of his power and speed….think about it..

Rafael says:
June 6th, 2009 at 9:44 am

ok , i found it: Valero is going to fight another “nobody” and this is what Bob Arhum has to say:

english: ” Arum said that is very hard to find him opponents, nobody wants to be the number 26 in Valero´s victim list, he has the physical strenth of superman ”

any doubts ??

Carlos says:

Edwin.

This fight will never happen because of few things. Primarily, there are more deserving oponents than Valerio who has proven their talents in big fights internationally. 2nd, is Money issue. Boxing is business and in no way bigger fight demands would give way to Pacman vs unheralded boxing hero, superman or whatever tag you may call Valerio. Valerio is simply unknown to a lot of boxing fans, except those who browse the internet like us. 3rd, I doubt if Roche and Pacquio gives a damn about a Valerio vs Pacman fight. Goodluck to Edwin. I hope he gets to fight other popular boxers and prove his might.

let’s face it, valero hasn’t beat any class a, let alone class b boxers. he has 25 ko’s but doesn’t mean he’s class a fighter, i might consider him class c/b for now. u can’t fault him, coz he didn’t fight in u.s. he fought mainly in japan, where honestly, u can’t find quality opponents. now he’s cleared to fight in texas he should start calling out class b fighters, pituala was old and class c fighter, never been in the level of pacman, marquez, barrera or morales. to callout pacman is not a good idea. and not really possible. pacman won’t fight a fighter below his level. it’s because it not economic wise and frankly pacman has nothing to gain from fighting valero. i didn’t say he has no chance to beat the pacman, but he should earn his way up, as great fighters like pacman did. he should call out fighters like david diaz, juan diaz, paulie, joel casamayor, nate campbel, julio diaz, prescott or joan guzman. if he beats one of these fighters then his next fight, i guarantee you will be huge.he has to show the mainstream boxing fans that he belongs to the upper level by fighting these guys or beating these guys in an impressive way. until then he ’s just edwin valero, class b-c fighter.

Estimado Edwin:

Queremos ver a Edwin Valero hacer historia.

Valero can’t win against Pacman, thats why this fight is not happening. Valero’s record is like a good book cover, but when you started to read the book, nothing is there. He has a record of 25 Fights and 25 Knockouts, because he keeps fighting bums. When you fight a bum you become a bum. The only reason I can see here why he wants to fight Pac is to get a good paycheck. Definitely he will loss, but he knows he will get a big paycheck.
Pacman is a class A fighter – Valero is a class D figther. Not in pacman’s league. PERIOD!!

If edwin valero would beat juan manuel marquez in a more impressive victory than pacman did, …… this is the only chance i think for him to fight superstar pacman. Go edwin and your handlers including your millions of fan, choose marquez first before Congressman Emmanuel “Pacman” Pacquiao

Why does Valero think he deserves a shot against Pacquiao?

He better beat a couple world class fighters before he thinks about getting in the ring with Manny.

lol… when the time Valero taste someone like Manny Pacquiao, he’ll probably nod. As of this time, Valero is just a tiny bit of Pacquiao. Fight the blue chip fighters so that we will believe your power. I don’t even think you can beat Juan Manuel Marquez and Ricky Hatton.

zhunde says:
February 7th, 2010 at 1:23 pm

see! Valero won against Demarco but not in Round 1 as he was called the Round 1 Knockout artist but in Round 9. How much more if Valero fights some blue chip fighter. I thought he is a KO artist but why??? Why it still end in Round 9?

Edwin Valero is a true warrior. I must say I have never seen a fighter with such heart and determination as Valero. After being cut by an elbow rendered by DeMarco, he showed they had the skills to finish the fight, but not only finish, but dominate a truly beaten, worn and embarrassed DeMarco. I must say amigo. You are truly a force to be reckoned with! I can’t wait to see you fight in the United States to show some of these so-called fighters what a real fighter can do.

Good Work!

OH boy what an awesome performance beating Demarco. Edwin just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the great work and keep training like a savage beast because that’s what makes you a savage in the ring. I truly wish you the best in your career and out of the ring. You remind me of why i loved boxing when i first became a fan and now you have made me love it again and better than ever. Thank you.
