So just who is Edwin Valero? Perhaps you may have heard him as the round 1 knockout artist. Or maybe the “slugger” who hasn’t fought the major leagues (at least yet). But whatever you like to call him, no matter what the boxing professionals, the so called major leagues, or the critics say: Valero still made a buzz for himself by having a professional boxing record of 24 consecutive knockouts, 19 of which all occurred in the first round. Clearly with that perfect undefeated boxing record, 100% knockout rate and 80% of which all in round 1, you can’t blame the fame of the Venezuelan southpaw boxer from the super featherweight division that is Edwin Valero.

He is by the way the incumbent WBA super featherweight champion of the world. There have also been rumors circulating all over the internet that one of the biggest fights in boxing history might just happen: Edwin Valero vs. Manny Pacquiao. However there have been many hindrances for this match. For one, Edwin Valero may still not be cleared to fight in the USA due to health conditions he gained from a severe motorcycle accident. However, we’ve heard that he is being cleared to fight in America soon so that’s good news for Edwin Valero fans.

Another hindrance to consider is that Valero’s party thinks it might be too early for him to fight with arguably the best boxer alive, Manny Pacquiao and that Valero may still need more experience to gain momentum and popularity in the boxing community. But we say that’s the whole point. He is a fast rising star hungry to knock the hell out of his next victim. The only way to debunk the stereotype that he hasn’t fought real boxers yet is to begin fighting with the big guys like Pacman.

But on a safety note, we also personally think that a match with Pacquiao and Valero this soon will be a make or break fight and a career threatening match for the two of them. Why? Simply because should Valero win the fight against Pacquiao, Edwin will be an instant star and cash flow will surely be flooding his ways just like Manny. But and it’s a very big but… should he lose the said dream match, then we all know for sure that his round 1 knockout fame will never be heard of ever again. But then if he manages to knock Manny Pacquiao out, round 1 or not, as long as he defeats the destroyer then the match and his name Edwin Valero will for sure be written in a gold plated tablet in the boxing history books.

  8. Andy Walts Says:

Valero is the most underrated boxer at this time. He is not getting fair opportunities for big fights. That is because they are afraid of him and the threat he carries. There should not be an Oscar - Pacman fight. Pac too small. Valero and Manny is what we need to see.
