Antonio Demarco defeats Anges Adjaho!

On the Showtime Championship Boxing undercard at the BankAtlantic Center,Sunrise,Florida promoted by Don King productions and Gary Shaw Productions was the very important official WBC Lightweight elimination fight to determine the #1 ranked Contender and Mandatory challenger for the current WBC lightweight world champion EDWIN VALERO.
23 year old southpaw Antonio DeMarco (22-1, 1, 16 KO’s) of Tijuana,Baja California,Mexico faught Anges Adjaho (25-2, 14 KO’s) of Benin Africa in the WBC Lightweight Elimination bout.
While the fight seemed to be bound for the score cards, 2:59 of Round # 9 was this fights end in a dramatic semi-controversial knock out victory for Antonio DeMarco. As both exchanged in the ninth Adjaho was on his way to the canvas and claims he was hit behind the head and also while he was down;
however, the Referee Tellis Assimenios  counted out and waved off the fight when Adjaho layed face down ignoring the count.
Adjaho was coming off a victory over former title challenger Fernando “El Perro” Angulo while DeMarco was best known for his dismantling of Almazbek “‘Kid Diamond”  Raiymkulov.
The bout was up for grabs at the time of the stoppage. Each fighter was up by two points on the first two judge’s scorecard, while the third judge had the bout even, 85-85.
The official verdict of the bout: DeMarco winner by knockout at 2:59 of ninth round.
