on the 3-13-2010 undercard at the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA: 29 year old Humberto “la Zorrita” Soto (51W-7L-2D,32KO’s) of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, fighting out of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico challenged 33 year old David Diaz (35W-3L-1D,17KOs) of Chicago, Illinois, USA in a duel for the WBC 135pound lightweight world championship Vacated by world class pound4pound ranked Edwin Valero who will now move to 140pounds.

In front of a crowd of 50,994+ the fight began with a head clash in round 1 wich caused a cut on Diaz wich has since been stiched. Soto was more dazed with the head clash but was able to catch Diaz off balance and score a counter left hook wich breifly stunned Diaz as Diaz’s glove grazed the ground, referee stepped in for the mandatory standing 8 count to a unhurt Diaz.
middle rounds was anyones fight as both realized it might be headed for the cards. Soto was able to score another knockdown on Diaz at the end of the 12th round as they both traded with Diaz charging foward, a knockdown that is disputed by Diaz.
