Jorge Barrios gets passed Castro!

At the Polideportivo Sports/Carlos Cerutti in Cordoba,Argentina- promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, the former WBO super-featherweight champion 33 year old Jorge Rodrigo “La Hiena” Barrios (48w-4L-1d-34Ko’s) from Tigre, Buenos Aires,Argentina returned to the ring after being inactive for nearlly a year to face a southpaw in Moises “La Cobrita”Castro(27w-12L-4d-13Ko’s) from Managua , Nicaragua for the interim WBO Latino Lightweight Title..

Jorge Barrios has had better ring performances in the past, In this fight he seemed slow and a bit out of shape. Ring rust was evident in this showing even over a lesser opponent that was considerd a tune-up, the height of the fight was in round 4 when Barrios landed a right hand sending Castro seemingly down if the ropes had not helped “La Cobrita” stay on his feet..

In the end they reached the final round #12 and both seemed intent on just getting through the fight and not finishing their opponents off for the vacant belt at stake. Barrios picked up the title and wins the belt by way of unanimous decision..the score cards were as follows:

Jorge Barrios has been calling out and trash talking the Undefeated WBC lightweight king EdwinValero for the past few months ever since they had a on stage altercation that almost resulted in punches at the lightweight lightning press conference..
