Jorge Linares stops Perez!

After several delays and rescheduling, The Boxing worlds highly anticipated appearance of the WBA super featherweight undefeated #3 pound for pound best fighter in the world, 23 year old Jorge “Nino De Oro” Linares (27-0, 18 KOs) retained his Championship belt with an eighth round KO over the 25 year old Mexican champion Josafat Perez (12-2, 7 KOs) on Saturday night at the Plaza de Toros in Nuevo Laredo,Tamaulipas,Mexico. Both fighters weighed in at exactly 130 pounds and entered the ring of the 10,000+ seat arena. Linares the Tokyo,Japan based Venenzuelan Teiken Style fighter is trained by the legendary Sendai Tanaka who also trained top world class fighter Edwin Valero. From the bell in round one Linares put on a clinical display of the professional skill that won him WBA championship belts at feather weight and super feather weight, impressively airing out his arsenal against a clearly overmatched challenger until the Referee Luis Pabon waved off the one-sided affair at the 1:40 mark of the eighth round to protect the challenger from further physical abuse. It was Linares’ first defense of the WBA 130lb belt after previously holding the WBC featherweight belt. Linares improves to 27-0 (18), retaining and defending the WBA super feather weight championship of the world….
