Toshiaki Nishioka Retains WBC Title Deposing Gonzalez!

In a high tension fight in Monterey, Mexico: WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (34-4-3-21 KOs) of Japan successfully defended his world title belt by deposing Mexican former world champion Jhonny Gonzalez (40-7-34 KOs) inside 3 rounds. This is a Nishioka -first world title defense outside of Japan and with this win he became only the second Japanese Fighter to defend a world title overseas since Jiro Watanabe did in 1985. With 12,000+ fans in attendance at Arena-Monterrey: Gonzalez scored a flash knockdown sending Nishioka down in round one with a straight right, Nishioka cautiously stalked his opponent in round two until Nishioka floored Gonzalez with a sharp straight left from the southpaw stance in round three and Referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight at 1:20, when Gonzalez, unable to stand, struggled to get up at an eight count. Toshiaki Nishioka is a Teiken fighter trained by legendary Sendai Tanaka the long time head trainer of Edwin Valero..Toshiaki Nishioka is scheduled to make a second WBC world title defence October 10,2009 in Japan..
